GABA‐antagonists and spatial summation in Y‐type cat retinal ganglion cells.

Abstract
The effect of GABA-antagonists on center size of Y-type retinal ganglion cells was measured under conditions which ensured that cells were rod driven. Both bicuculline and picrotoxin, administered i.v., led to reliable and reversible changes in center size as determined by area-sensitivity measurements. The administration of GABA-antagonists produced opposite results in on- and off-center cells; the center summing area decreased in on-center cells and increased in off-center cells.
