Abstract
The successful heterologous transplantation of several human tumors, including a breast carcinoma, a carcinoma of the colon, a melanotic sarcoma, and a fibrosarcoma, has been reported. Histologically, the appearance of the transplants of the carcinomata differed from that of the spontaneous tumors, but the directly observed growth of the transplanted fragments together with the presence of invasion in microscopic sections afforded proof of successful transfer. Transplants of the sarcomata, on the other hand, were morphologically identical with the primary tumors, and in the case of the fibrosarcoma serial passage to a second generation of animals was successfully performed. Keywords
