The composition of the tissues of albino rats treated with alkaline anterior pituitary extracts

Abstract

In the extract-treated animals an av. dry matter content of 36.5% was found, and in the controls 38.6% dry matter. The av. total N% in experimental animals and controls was 3.29 and 3.16 respectively. If the injections are stopped, the animals lose about 35% of the wt. difference recorded, and about 60% of this loss is explained by the excretion of surplus water.
