Abstract
Changes in water and electro-lyte content of blood and brain following experimental water intoxication of adult rats were studied. Brain edema produced by water loading occurred mainly in the "chloride space". The absolute values of brain Na and chloride decreased as the water content increased. The brain/ serum ratio of Na and chloride increased. The increase in water content of the brain paralleled the increase in water content of the red blood cells. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
