Abstract
The near basal heart rates of 24 normal unapprehensive dogs that had been without food for 12 hrs. and had rested quietly for 60 mins. ranged from 50-56 beats per min. Bilateral removal of the stellate and upper 5 thoracic ganglia from. 10 of these dogs failed to result in an appreciable change in this basal heart rate.
