Crystal structure and metamagnetic property of a 2-D layered complex, [FeII(N3)2(pyz)]n (pyz = pyrazine)

Abstract
In crystals of [FeII(N3)2(pyz)]n (pyz = pyrazine), two adjacent Fe2+ ions are bridged via two μ-1,1-N3 ligands along the c axis to afford ferromagnetically coupled linear chains, which are bridged via μ-pyrazine ligands along the b axis to afford 2-D antiferromagnetically coupled layers; these competitive magnetic couplings lead to the occurrence of metamagnetic behavior.
