Chemotactic Response to Staphylococcus Strains of Varying Pathogenicity

Abstract
In hanging-drop prepns.containing a fragment of spleen as a source of leucocytes and 1 or 2 capillary tubes containing bacteria in semi-solid agar, strains of Staphylococcus of low patho-genicity which produce little or no haemotoxin exhibit relatively more chemotactic attraction for the leucocytes than strains of high pathbgenicity and high toxigenic properties. A negative chemotactic action of toxin seems to account for the difference.
