THE EFFECTS OF THEELIN AND THEELOL IN LATENT TETANY

Abstract
Four parathyroidectomized ? dogs and two normals were injected with theelin and theelol. Mucus and blood appeared in the external genitalia indicating that the animals were in artificial estrus. Severe tetany requiring Ca medication was observed in only 1 of the 4 parathyroidectomized dogs. In parathyroidectomized dogs the blood Ca was lowered with both compounds but more markedly with theelol. The blood Ca of one normal [male] and one normal [female] was unaffected by either theelin or theelol.
