Abstract
This qualitative report briefly discusses some properties of some transparent and translucent glasslike germanate compounds and germanate single crystals. These compounds are photoluminescent, thermoluminescent, and phosphorescent. The observable luminescent effects, although only partially understood, are reproducible. Keywords
