First Field Application of Oviposition-deterring Marking Pheromone of European Cherry Fruit Fly 1

Abstract
Solutions of an oviposition-deterring pheromone produced by females of Rhagoletis cerasi L. were collected in the laboratory, partly purified and sprayed on cherries during their susceptible stage for oviposition. Despite heavy rainfalls during the experiment, infestation of treated cherries could be reduced by 77.6% compared with untreated controls.
