Editor's Note: This article has been prepared by Dr. Sidney Nolan, Jr., and summarizes the findings in his dissertation, "Tourist Use and Evaluation of Travel Information Sources." His dissertation won first place in the William B. Keeling Dissertation Competition. The award honors the late Dr. William B. Keeling of the University of Georgia and serves to perpetuate his efforts to improve travel research methodology, standards, and practices. The first award was for $1,000 and was presented to Dr. Nolan at the 1975 TTRA meeting in San Diego, California. The next dissertation competition award will be presented in 1978.
