Abstract
We find experimental support for the view that diquarks appear only as spin-0 objects. When their production rate in the color field of a quark from annihilation is described by the appropriate Schwinger formula for scalars, it turns out that they must be substantially lighter than earlier believed in order to explain the baryon yield.
