Abstract
A VAST amount of research has been done on serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) within relatively few years. There has been a tendency to attribute clinical significance to many of the experimental results obtained in animals and even in biologic systems in vitro. This has posed a difficult problem to the medical investigator and clinician, and it is not surprising that considerable confusion still exists on interrelations between serotonin and various clinical disorders. In this review, an attempt will be made to place in proper perspective the present status of knowledge of this amine in man. After the basic medical aspects of serotonin . . .Keywords
