Abstract
We studied the isolation of three different forms of p-coumaric acid in a peat soil and determined these forms in the soil sample and their distribution by gas chromatography. Contents of form A (the free form), form B (a combined form extractable with the organic solvent), and form C (a combined form unextractable with the organic solvent) in the soil sample were 73 μg/g soil, 150 μg/g soil, and 2850 μg/g soil, respectively. Distributions of the A, B, and C forms were 2.4, 5, and 92.7 percent, respectively. These data cannot be said to be representative of peat soils in general.
