Interfacial Surface Energy between the Superfluid Phases ofHe3

Abstract
We report the first measurements of σAB, the surface energy associated with the interface between the A and B phases of superfluid He3 as they coexist at TAB. At melting pressure we find σAB=6×106 erg cm2 in no magnetic field (TABTC=0.79) rising to σAB=1.6×105 erg cm2 in a magnetic field of 4 kOe (TABTC=0.5). Theoretical calculations that we present give an estimate about 50% larger.
