Abstract
There is a barrier to the passage of histamine across the wall of isolated stomachs and segments of ileum of guinea pigs. The maintenance of this barrier is independent of the inactivation or destruction of histamine which may occur in these isolated prepns. Aging of the isolated segments of ileum at 0[degree] C for 1 or more days greatly reduced or eliminated the barrier, indicating that it is dependent on the viability of the gut. Keywords
