Finite-Geometry Effects and Onset of Superfluidity inHe3-He4Mixtures nearTλ

Abstract
The amplitude and velocity of second sound near Tλ and the onset temperature To(X) for superfluidity have been measured for He3-He4 mixtures in resonators equipped with superleak transducers. The reduced temperature εo=1To(X)Tλ(X) and the quantity lρsT at εo vary by factors of about 6 for X=0 to 0.4. The exponents λ for εo=(dd*λ and ν for the onset length l=l*εν are independent of X to within ± 3%. Contrasting with this behavior is a 20% change of the effective exponent ζ of ρsρ=kεζ.
