Comparative Evaluation of Absorption Models forρExchange

Abstract
We determine the "effective rescattering" needed to explain the detailed features of the ρ-exchange amplitudes in πN scattering in a Reggeized absorption model. We discuss in what way this differs from elastic scattering and whether or not Regge-Regge cuts can account for the difference. We consider the case that the ρ-exchange amplitudes have nonsense—wrong-signature zeros and compare with previous work in which they did not. Also we consider whether adding a secondary trajectory provides an alternative solution to the difficulties with conventional absorption model treatments.
