Dosimetry in Photocoagulation

Abstract
Equipment can measure and record a radiation dose during photocoagulation, both with a quasicontinuous ruby laser coagulator and the optical attachment to the Zeiss Oberkochen apparatus enabling the use of the mirror contact glass. Routine dosimetry is thought to be of importance because recent experience has shown that the incidence rate of the puckering syndrome (postcoagulative maculopathy) is much lower for ruby laser than for xenon arc photocoagulation and, therefore, depends probably on radiation dose.
