Vibrations of an Electron Bubble in Liquid Helium

Abstract
An estimate is made of the frequencies of oscillation of compressional and surface modes of an electron bubble in liquid helium. The liquid is treated as an incompressible fluid with a surface tension determined by the equilibrium bubble radius. There are deviations from Rayleigh's classical formula arising from the quantum potential energy of deformation of an electron in a deformed cavity. These contributions are included in the calculation and a modified formula is obtained.
