Abstract
A recent reformulation of the theory of electron scattering by atoms—in which those scatterings, real or virtual, that leave the state of the atom unchanged are separated off from the remainder—has been generalized to include the effects of the Pauli principle. The case where the Hartree approximation suffices to describe the atom is considered in detail, including a calculation of the "scattering potential" to second order. Keywords
