The main species of pathogenic aerobic actinomycetes causing mycetomas

Abstract
(1) Residues from the alcoholic extract of Kedrowsky's bacillus have been shown to behave as good antigens for complement-fixation tests in kala-czar. (2) A white fraction obtained from the alcoholic extract of Kedrowsky's bacillus has been found to be at least as good as the standard antigen for complement-fixation tests in kala-azar. (3) Preparation of the antigen for complement-fixation tests in kala-azar from this alcoholic extract is a very much simpler procedure than the standard method of preparation of this antigen. (4) The view that the antigen giving positive complement-fixation tests with sera from cases of kala-azar is contained in the alcohol-insoluble fraction of the bacilli is discussed.
