Simulation of Photoperiodicity by Thermoperiodicity

Abstract

The development of tomato plants was greatly increased by covering them with tar paper in the field at different hrs. in the afternoon and removing the cover the next morning. The afternoon temps, were betw. 15[degree] and 20[degree] C. These effects were primarily due to temp, differences, since in plants subjected to controlled temp, sequence the daily length of illumination had no effect upon development.
