Effect of DDT Poisoning on the Longevity and Fecundity of the Pink Bollworm1

Abstract
The longevity and fecundity of adult pink bollworms, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders), that survived low dosages of DDT were compared with untreated controls. The insects that survived exposure lived fewer days and produced fewer eggs than the untreated controls. Reduction in oviposition by the treated individuals was attributed to a lowered incidence of mating, shortened life span, and other undetermined physiological effects resulting from exposure to DDT.
