STUDIES ON THE RELATION OF CULTURAL CONDITIONS AND VIRULENCE OF PASTEURELLA PESTIS

Abstract
Growth of several virulent strains of P. pestis in aerated liquid cultures at 37[degree]C consistently resulted in loss of virulence. This loss did not occur in similar cultures incubated at 26[degree]C or on solid media at either 26 or 371. The loss of virulence was attributed to selection of avirulent mutants.
