Abstract
Recent years have witnessed a considerable interest in the development of refractive index profiles such that the equations governing the propagation of electromagnetic waves in such media possess solutions in terms of the standard transcendental functions. After a summary of the relevant work that has been done for various propagation modes using various coordinate systems in both iso-tropio and anisotropio plasmas, the present paper explores a widely-ranging generating device illustrated by means of the hypergeometrio function. Profiles usually suffer from the disadvantage of possessing singularities for certain values of the space coordinate, but the device presented here is formulated in such a way that singularity-free profiles emerge.
