Qualitative and Semiquantitative Determination of Impurities in Alkali Halides

Abstract
The chemical microanalytical method for the determination of certain metal impurities in KBr here described, consists of the extraction of the impurities as organic complexes in chloroform, of complex destruction and chloride formation, of qualitative and semiquantitative determination by chromatographic separation and spot comparison with standard chromatograms. It is also possible to apply this method to various metal impurities diluted in the alkali halides and in matrices of different substances. Detection limits are 0.01 p.p.m. in 50-100 g of matter. The results obtained for Ni, Mn, Co, Al, Zn, Pb, Fe, Cu were satisfactory.
