Right and Left Gonadal Veins

Abstract
The left and right gonadal veins were investigated in 84 autopsy cases consisting of 30 men and 54 women. Valves were more often absent in men than in women and both sexes more frequently lacked valves on the left than on the right side. Women more often than men had Incompetent valves and wider veins on both sides. These changes were related to past pregnancies. There was no indication that the different anatomical courses on the 2 sides have any definite Influence on the width of the gonadal veins.
