Electron Capture into Excited Helium Levels by FastHe+Impact on He,N2, andO2

Abstract

Collision cross sections have been measured for electron capture into the $3{}_{}{}^3{}_{}{}^{}S$, $3{}_{}{}^1{}_{}{}^{}P$, $3{}_{}{}^3{}_{}{}^{}P$, $3{}_{}{}^1{}_{}{}^{}D$, $3{}_{}{}^3{}_{}{}^{}D$, $4{}_{}{}^1{}_{}{}^{}S$, $4{}_{}{}^3{}_{}{}^{}S$, $4{}_{}{}^1{}_{}{}^{}D$, $4{}_{}{}^3{}_{}{}^{}D$, and $5{}_{}{}^1{}_{}{}^{}D$ levels of helium by ${\mathrm{He}}^{+}$ impact on He, for electron capture into the $3{}_{}{}^1{}_{}{}^{}D$, $3{}_{}{}^3{}_{}{}^{}D$, $4{}_{}{}^1{}_{}{}^{}D$, and $4{}_{}{}^3{}_{}{}^{}D$ levels of helium by ${\mathrm{He}}^{+}$ impact on ${\mathrm{N}}_2$, and for electron capture into the $3{}_{}{}^3{}_{}{}^{}D$ level of helium by ${\mathrm{He}}^{+}$ impact on ${\mathrm{O}}_2$. These cross sections were obtained in an impact energy range of 20 to 120 keV.
