Measurement of theO16(n, p)N16Cross Section at 14.7 Mev

Abstract
The O16(n, p)N16 cross section has been measured for 14.7-Mev neutrons. A recoil proton telescope was used to measure the neutron flux. Oxygen was incorporated in a liquid scintillator which was irradiated in the flux. The absolute activity of the resulting N16 was measured by 4π beta counting the solution with two photomultipliers in coincidence. A value of 39.2±1.6 mb was obtained for the cross section.
