Abstract
Adrenal cortex extract prepared by a previously reported process was purified in ethyl acetate soln. by removal of acidic and basic substances, followed by distr. between benzene and water, and finally fractionation with Girard''s reagent T. This distr. of cortical hormone activity was quantitatively followed by previously described rat method. 6 crystalline substances were isolated, 5 of which were probably identical with substances reported by other workers. The most active of the crystalline substances defined assayed about 3 to 4 R.U. per mg. as compared to 20 to 30 R.U. per mg. for certain amorphous fractions obtained. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
