Abstract
Injury patterns of people who had sustained pedal cycle accidents were analysed. The main finding was that simple falls among child cyclists are associated with a high risk for trunk injuries caused by impact against handlebar ends. According to animal experiments the preventive principle of spreading the impact is not valid for handlebar trauma or in case of abdominal injuries as a whole. Keywords
