Abstract
Chromosome study of Haltica caerulea belonging to the family Halticini, Coleoptera, is reported. The diploid number is 23, with 10 pairs of autosomes and 3 sex chromosomes. All the chromosomes are acrocentric. For the first time, a multiple sex chromosome mechanism has been encountered in the genus Haltica. Among the sex chromosomes X is the longest, the two Y chromosomes are small and are of the same length as the smallest pair of autosomes. Keywords
