Analysis of Insect Food Habits by Crop Examination

Abstract

Studies of crop contents show that Conocephalinae subsist on flowers, pollen, seeds of grasses, and insects, the vegetative parts of plants being rarely if ever eaten. The significance of such studies in determining the ecological role of insects is pointed out.
