Abstract

The biological value of the protein of the unicellular green algae Scenedesmus obliquus, investigated in growth experiments with young albino rats, was at least as high as that of the protein of dried skim milk and higher than that of all vegetable proteins hitherto examined by this method. No dietary liver necrosis was observed in animals fed with the algal protein.
