Broadband Proximity Fed Modified Circular Microstrip Antenna

Abstract
A new 2700 sectoral micro strip antenna derived from circular micro strip antenna is proposed. Also its variations like, 3000, 3200 and 3400 sectoral micro strip antennas are proposed. In the proposed sectoral patch a new mode below the fundamental mode resonance frequency of the equivalent circular patch is introduced. The higher order mode frequencies of sectoral patch are higher than the frequencies of equivalent circular patch. The analysis for variation in bandwidth due to the coupling between the first two modes of the sectoral patch for different sectoral angle is presented. The optimum bandwidth of 500 MHz (>50%) is realized for 3200 sectoral patch. The proposed antenna yields broadside radiation pattern with gain of more than 7 dBi over the operating bandwidth.Keywords
