Abstract
With an alcohol dose of 1 g of absolute alcohol/ kg of body weight, taken in the course of 1 hour on an empty stomach, static ataxia in 2 test series has been determined by applying a modified Romberg test and employing a mechanical recording procedure. In the first test series, the alcohol was taken as blended brandy (32.6% W/W), in the second, on the same 12 subjects, as beer (3.6% W/W). In the brandy series, the increase in static ataxia was nearly double that in the beer series. The peak disorder manifested itself earlier in the brandy series. Individual differences in reaction were considerable.
