HIGH LEVELS OF PANCREATIC INSULIN COEXISTENT WITH HYPERPLASIA AND DEGRANULATION OF BETA CELLS IN MICE WITH THE HEREDITARY OBESE-HYPERGLYCEMIC SYNDROME1

Abstract
The obese-hyperglycemic syndrome of mice is characterized by an increase in the extractable insulin of pancreas as well as hyperplasia and degranulation of the beta cells. These findings appear consistent with a primary hypersecretion of glucagon and secondary hyper-secretion of insulin.
