THE EFFECT OF OVARIAN HORMONE ON THE BASAL METABOLISM OF EXPERIMENTAL HYPERTHYROID RATS

Abstract
Amniotin and theelin decreased heat production. Amniotin given immediately after 3 days of thyroid feeding brought the hyperthyroid animals back to a normal heat production in less than half the time required for exptl. hyperthyroid rats to return to the normal basal metabolism level. Amniotin given in an oil solution produced a greater measurable effect than did theelin given in a water solution.
