Abstract
A modification of the colorimetric estimation of citric acid is descr. in which permanganate is replaced by vanadic acid. This gives increased simplicity and speed of operation, and greater freedom from interference by other oxidizable substrates. The yield of penta-bromoacetone is almost quantitative. Some recent modifications of the colorimetric estimation of pentabromoacetone are critically examined. Keywords
