Studies on diffusing factors

Abstract

Possible mechanisms for the influence of diffusing factors on the spreading of solns. of indicators through the dermal layer are discussed. The rate-determining step is considered to be a "reaction" between molecules of the diffusing factor and the nonpermeable dermal tissue. On this basis a kinetic expression is developed which accounts satisfactorily for the rate of spreading when testicular extract or kallikrein is used.
