CONDITIONS INVOLVING THE HEMOPOIETIC SYSTEM RESULTING IN A PSEUDORHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS; SIMILARITY OF MULTIPLE MYELOMA AND RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

Abstract
This report describes two cases of multiple myeloma that simulated rheumatoid arthritis and also one case of Hodgkin''s disease and one case of erythremic myelosis which were diagnosed and treated as rheumatoid arthritis. Other reports have shown a plasmacytosis and amyloidosis in rheumatoid arthritis. Rheum atoid arthritis may be a result of an abnormality in protein metabolism resulting in the deposition of some protein substance, either amyloid or other, in and about the joints, followed by reactions in the synovial and other tissues of the joints involved.
