The phosphatide and cholesterol contents of normal and malignant human tissues

Abstract

Malig nant tissues have a higher phosphatide and cholesterol content than malignant tissues admixed with normal tissues. Malignant tissues show a high proportion of bound cholesterol. Malignant and benign tumors have a higher phosphatide-cholesterol ratio than do the neighboring tissues or similar tissues from which they have arisen.
