The Influence of Hormones on the Basophilic Leukocytes

Abstract
Basopenia is observed after release of suprarenal corticosteroid hormones after stress or administration of cortisone or ACTH. The number is low during ovulation, pregnancy and hyperthyroidism, and is increased during progesterone, thyroid and estrogen therapy, and in myxedema. The numerical changes in eosinophiles and basophiles are not always parallel.
