The limits of generalizability:community-based sexual health interventions among gay men

Abstract
This chapter uses two controlled trials of peer-led interventions as case studies to illustrate some of the problems of generalizing or transferring sexual health interventions from one developed country to another. It begins with the rationale for peer-led community interventions and the success of this approach with gay men in the United States. It then describes attempts to transfer such interventions to the United Kingdom, and considers the implications of this experience.
