Abstract
Near infrared (NIR) spectrometry has found wide use in academic applications, forensic research and in industry. While the use of NIR has been extended to new fields, there have also been enormous developments in the field of multivariate calibration. Some of these developments were due to demands in NIR applications while others came from related spectral techniques. In this paper some trends and developments in multivariate calibration and the use of NIR spectrometry are presented and commented upon. A complete overview would be quite impossible, but an attempt is made to present a good selection of what is going on in the field, with appropriate comments. Keywords
