Abstract
The calculation of the partition function for a simple one-dimensional order-disorder model is reduced to the solution of a certain functional equation. This equation is solved rigorously and it is shown that in the limit of indefinitely long-range interactions the model exhibits a finite discontinuity in the specific heat. Keywords
