Abstract
Two split sample field trials were conducted. Expt. 1 involved 198 samples from 18 bulls of 3 breeds on a split sample trial and 78 samples from 7 bulls on alternate week trial. The avg. nonreturn rate for the split samples with egg yolk-citrate on 5689 services was 63.5%; for the same semen diluted with boiled homogenized milk it was 68.1% (5695 services). This difference of 4.6% is significant (P<0.01). The 78 ejaculates from the 7 bulls on an alternate week basis and used for 4340 1st and 2d services showed a 3% increase in favor of milk. Expt. 2 involving 145 split samples from 12 bulls of 4 breeds and used for 4920 first and second services showed a difference of 2.8% in favor of the boiled homogenized milk (P<0.01).Keywords
