Abstract
Negative and positive selection procedures were used to establish whether the strong proliferative response of [mouse] T [thymus-derived] cells to Mlsa determinants is H-2 restricted. After negative selection to H-2 determinants in vivo, T cells gave high primary mixed lymphocyte reactions in vitro to Mlsa determinants presented on H-2-incompatible stimulator cells. Other studies demonstrated that negative selection of T cells to Mlsa determinants on H-2-incompatible cells removed T cells with specificity for Mlsa-bearing H-2-compatible cells, and T cells primed in vitro or in vivo to Mlsa determinants on H-2-compatible cells gave high secondary responses to Mlsa determinants presented on H-2-compatible or H-2-incompatible stimulator cells. T cells recognize Mlsa determinants per se rather than an association of Mlsa plus self or allo-H-2 determinants. This publication has 25 references indexed in Scilit:
