Abstract
The distribution and abundance of animals and plants living on small sublittoral algae have been examined. Sixty-six algae and 214 animals are listed. Of the 39 species sufficiently abundant to analyse, five showed preferences for areas of fast current, a few for medium current and fifteen for quiet water. Some otherwise widely distributed species were absent from the place of fastest current or the most stagnant place or both. No species showed a clear preference for living on a particular species of substrate alga. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
